I’m Bob Lape with Dining Diary

I love Macondo. This brother ship of the Pan Latin Rayuela on Allen Street is a delight in everyway. One of New York’s most dynamic chefs, Maximo Tejada, creates a menu of so called small plates (some not so small) to delight the eye and palate. Partner Hector Sanz’ wood rich eye catching design, nourishes the spirit as well. Its welcoming wait staff elevates the restore in restaurant. Macondo’s open kitchen produces one treat after another: one succulent octopus salad, flat bread cocas, ceviches, arepas, and the best lamb burger around with fried egg, bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, cabrales cheese and liver pate sauce. A stunning red snapper topped with escabeche and layered with yuca and mushroom cake bowled me over. Mondays are Cuban nights at Macondo with the whole roasted pig. Houston at Allen: a must taste place. That’s dinning diary I’m bob Lape WCBS 880
